Whole Body Cryotherapy uses ultra-cooled nitrogen gas application to lower the client’s skin temperature 30 degrees Fahrenheit for between 1 and 3 minutes.  Thermoreceptors in the skin send messages to the brain and central nervous system and the body goes into “Survival Mode” by sending hyper-oxygenated and nutritious blood via vasoconstriction to the body’s vital organs in its core.  After exiting the ultra-cooled environment, the body begins to warm to its natural temperature and vasodilation occurs, sending the oxygenated and nutritious blood back to the body’s periphery.  This process provides the body with extra nutrients, rids the body of toxins, produces collagen, and activates the body’s natural cell regeneration cycle to produce newer, healthier cells.

There are situations where you must forgo a Whole-Body Cryotherapy session. The contraindication list is as follows:

• Pregnancy
• Raynaud’s Syndrome
• Moderately or severely elevated blood pressure (blood pressure above 180/95 mmHg)
• An acute heart attack, or a heart attack within the past 6 months
• Unstable angina pectoris: chest pain that occurs without direct cause and will not simply cease by itself (imminent heart attack)
• Cardiac arrhythmias
• Cardiovascular diseases in which symptoms are present
• A pacemaker
• Peripheral arterial occlusive disease
• Venous thrombosis: a blood clot in the veins
• Acute or recent cerebrovascular accident / stroke
• Uncontrolled seizures
• Fever
• Bleeding disorders
• Severe anemia
• Infection
• Cold allergy
• Acute kidney and urinary tract diseases

During each cryotherapy treatment the body releases endorphins and serotonin, which supply your body with a natural source of energy while elevating your mood.  The effects will typically last 6 to 8 hours after the session.  Like any new regimen, consistency is important to achieve the most beneficial results possible. Cryotherapy effectively decreases pain and inflammation while elevating mood.

Yes. For optimal results, we recommended that you work out before a cryotherapy treatment to speed muscle and joint recovery.  If you choose to work out before your cryotherapy treatment you can expect a higher pain tolerance, more energy, more range of motion, great flexibility and higher abilities in general.

The exact number of sessions depends on your goals and / or symptoms. As a standard, we use the rule of thumb that it is best to start with 5 to 10 consecutive daily treatments.  This process helps the body reset and readjust. For maintenance one to two sessions a week is recommended.

Every person is different.  We have customers started with 1 to 2 sessions a week then continued with this regimen.  We have other customers who started and continued with a daily regimen.  We, and customers, have seen benefits with both approaches. Benefits are cumulative.

Absolutely not. Nitrogen gas is a non-toxic natural gas. The atmosphere that we breathe is composed of 78% Nitrogen, 20% oxygen and 2% other elements. Nitrogen gas is utilized in Cryotherapy for its stable properties at very low temperatures.

Absolutely. The cryosauna is open at the top and clients are positioned with their head above the upper rim of the chamber.  A technician is in the room with the client while running the cryotherapy session.  There is constant communication between the technician and the client during the entire 3-minute cryotherapy treatment process.    If you are ever uncomfortable in the cryosauna, simply tell the technician and the session can be paused or stopped, and the door opened.  The chamber door does not lock and can be opened at any time.

No.  Showering before the treatment is not necessary. During the treatment your body stays dry, so taking a shower afterwards is not necessary either. You can get dressed straight after the treatment.

Whole Body Cryotherapy treatment is well tolerated and has minimal risk:  Blood pressure fluctuations during the treatment by up to 10 points systolic, allergic reaction to the extreme cold temperatures (rare), and activation of some viral conditions (such as cold sores, etc.) due to the stimulation of the immune system can occur but are unlikely.

Yes. Clients must be at least 5 feet tall.  The cryochamber is not designed for people under 5 feet.

Customers 18 and over are required to review and sign a waiver.

Customers 16 to 18 are required to have parental consent with the parent reviewing and signing a cryotherapy waiver.

Customers 15 and younger are required to have both a written physician’s release, and parental consent with the parent reviewing and signing a cryotherapy waiver.

Our customers report that temperatures are cold yet tolerable.  Nitrogen vapor in the cryosauna is extremely dry and does not feel as cold as it is.  As an example, the -0- degrees in Chicago feels far colder than -0- degrees on a ski slopes in Colorado due to the humidity difference.

The process takes only 3 minutes, and customers are instructed by technicians to listen to their body throughout the session.  Sessions are stopped early, if for any reason, a customer feels too cold or uncomfortable.  Our experience has been that 19 out of 20 customers complete their first session.

Customers must wear undergarments, sports shorts or swimwear.  We will provide the remaining attire.  The treatment is most effective when as much skin as possible is exposed. Only the extremities require protection.

Men: wear underwear, swimwear or sports shorts.  Socks, slippers, gloves and robe will be provided by us.

Women: wear undergarments, swimwear or sports shorts and a top.  Socks, slippers, gloves and robe will be provided by us.

Please make sure no metal clothing parts can touch your skin directly.

Except for rings on your fingers, do not wear any jewelry or piercings during the treatment (necklaces, bracelets or anklets).

Take care to ensure you are properly dry before you enter the chamber.

Do not use any creams, lotions, perfumes or oils on the skin before the treatment.
